Christ the King, Princess Margaret and Cedar Grove claim school titles

Christ the King High School (CKHS) stunned All Saints Secondary School (ASSS) for the second time in two days to lift the playoff title in the senior girls’ category of the Cool & Smooth Schools Basketball Competition on Monday.
Christ the King, led by Nia Coates and Timna Phillip, who both sank 12 points, defeated All Saints 30-15 to win game two of the three-game series. All Saints was led by Harmony Edwards with six points. The loss was only All Saints’ second of the competition after going undefeated during league play.
Meanwhile, Princess Margaret School (PMS) completed their playoff victory over Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS) with a 48-41 victory, also on Monday. It was the second straight victory for PMS over Ottos in the three-game series.
The victors were led by Trey Beazer who picked up 24 points and Mikie Charles who contributed with 12 points. Javon Simon had a game high of 27 points for Ottos while Lincoln Weeks chipped in with 17 points.
Cedar Grove also had cause to celebrate after they claimed the mini-boys league title with a 14-1 demolition of Old Road. Naeem Joseph led the charge for Cedar Grove with 10 of his team’s 14 points while Nathan Nicholas picked up Old Road’s only point.
Also, Clare Hall Secondary School (CHSS) took a one-game lead in the junior boys’ playoff finals when they defeated St. Anthony’s Secondary by a 38-35 margin.
Adrian Carniege led Clare Hall with 12 points while Javonte Daley picked up nine points also for the victors. Javonte Valerie was St. Anthony’s top performer with 10 points. (Neto Baptiste)
