A man who pleaded guilty to careless driving will have to wait until next year to know what penalty the court will impose on him.
Mario Browne appeared before Magistrate Dexter Wason who did not make his ruling immediately as he wanted the virtual complainant to be present in court.
Based on the facts, Browne and the complainant were travelling from south to north on the Freetown main road when upon reaching the entrance of Mill Reef, Browne came to a stop.
His vehicle then began to roll back and collided with the vehicle that was behind him. The police were called on the scene and based on investigations, Browne was charged for driving without due care and attention.
The accident reportedly occurred on December 2, 2022.
He told the court that his car just “shutdown” citing that it was running low on gas. Asked if he made any effort to repair the complainant’s vehicle, Browne said the individual never got back to him.
Therefore the matter has been adjourned to March 4, 2025 to allow the complainant to be present in court to be questioned about costs related to getting their vehicle repaired.
