The cancer-stricken high school student whose wish to meet Beyoncé came true when she received a FaceTime call from the singer has died.
Ebony Banks of Houston, Texas, lost her battle on Sunday, just four days after she got to speak with her hero over video chat.
According to Click2Houston, family and friends of the teen gathered for a candlelight vigil in her memory Sunday evening.

Banks — who attended Alief Hastings High School in Houston — spent most of her senior year at MD Anderson Cancer Center fighting a rare stage four cancer, according to KIAH, a local news station. Earlier this month, the school district held a special early graduation ceremony for Banks, whose nickname is “Ebob,” in the hospital.
As the ultimate graduation present, Banks’ friends and classmates created the hashtag #EBOBMEETSBEYONCE on social media so that she could meet with Beyoncé in an effort to help make one of her biggest dreams come true.
“Beyonce is one of her idols. She admires her so much, so we’re trying to put that on Twitter and Instagram to get Beyonce’s attention,” Alief HS sophomore Karina Gutierrez told local ABC affiliate KTRK-TV.
And it worked! Banks chatted with her idol over video chat.
“I love you,” the 22-time Grammy winner and mother-to-be told the teen during their conversation.
“Thank you to everyone who helped #ebobmeetsbeyonce @Beyonce,” Banks’ school tweeted along with a screenshot from the pair’s call session.
