Calypso Cricket Was A Success For Everyone

Everyone came out winners at the end of the calypso cricket match between the St Kitts Patriots and the Cool and Smooth All Stars, held at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Monday night.
Coach of the All Stars team, Kenny ‘Flipper’ Benjamin, philosophically told OBSERVER media yesterday morning.
“Nothing beats experience, you can’t coach that. The more these guys would have played against this calibre of players it’s the more their performance improves. I felt that our guys performed credibly and I think that’s what the sponsors, organizers and crowd came out to see,” Benjamin said.
He added that his players were able to take away the valuable lesson of never underestimating their opponents. He recalled that at some points of the game the St Kitts Patriots looked down and out but they used their experience from having played at the higher level to stay focused and fought through all adversity.
Benjamin said the Cool and Smooth All Stars team could have prepared better for its encounter with the Patriots as he noted that even players who are not internationally known would have performed at a high level in order to be selected on the St Kitts based Patriots’ franchise team.
He attributed the Patriots’ win largely to the bowling of Samuel Badree whom he said is the best T20 bowler in the world and an artiste with the ball.
The calypso cricket match was a warm up contest for the St Kitts Patriots as they get ready for the Caribbean Premiere League which begins on Friday, 4 August.
