For the third consecutive year, the Calvin Ayre Foundation has donated US $200,000 to the Island Academy International Bursary Fund.
The donation, made on October 26, manifests the continued commitment of Calvin Ayre to the educational upliftment of the youth of Antigua and Barbuda.
The donation is specifically geared at providing scholarship funding so that 20 students who lack the necessary financial means could nevertheless have an opportunity to attend a good school and receive a well-rounded education.
This is in keeping with Mr Ayre’s passion about the role of education in unlocking a child’s potential, especially those who have the ability but lack the opportunity to excel due to financial or other restrictions.
Island Academy was established in 2001 and is one of the few secondary schools in the Eastern Caribbean region that offers the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB Programme), which has enabled Island Academy to fulfill its mission of providing the youth of Antigua and Barbuda with a world-class educational foundation that would enable them to excel on a global scale.
Mr. Ayre has taken a keen interest in contributing to the building of various socio-economic pillars in his adopted home of Antigua.
He is currently constructing a new state-of-the-art office complex off the Friars Hill Road in the suburbs of the city of St. John’s.
The Calvin Ayre Foundation has been in existence for over 10 years, and has carried out extensive philanthropic work not only in Antigua and Barbuda but worldwide with a primary focus on education.
The Foundation is happy to continue partnering with Island Academy in such an important area of Antigua and Barbuda’s development. (Press release)
