Minister of Telecommunications Melford Nicholas says no preferential treatment was granted to a company directed by the prime minister’s son when it was awarded duty free concessions recently.
On January 11, the government granted Investment Facilitation exemption of duties for building materials and capital equipment for a new office complex at South Mall. Confirmation of the Cabinet decision on the concessions came in a letter in April this year.
Andron Gaston Browne, the son of Prime Minister Gaston Browne, has an interest in the company .
But Nicholas says the Prime Minister may have recused himself during the Cabinet decision.

Nicholas says granting concessions is nothing new to the Cabinet.
