Omarie Lake, a Dickenson Bay Street man who was caught with an unlicensed gun loaded with a magazine of five bullets which he had tucked away in his crotch, has been convicted and fined for those and other offences.

Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh ordered that he be jailed if he does not pay $6,500 right away and the balance by the end of August following his admission of guilt to three of the four charges he faced. Up to late yesterday, Lake had not been incarcerated, suggesting he had paid the amount needed right away.

The fine for possession of the gun was $15,000 and if he defaults he would be jailed for two years; $5,000 was for the ammunition or one year in jail; and $1,500 for possession of cannabis or six months behind bars, while the charge of possession of cannabis with intent to transfer it to others was withdrawn.
