Athletes and officials alike were honoured for their outstanding performances in last month’s Cool and Smooth Ministry of Sports Business Football League, as organisers held the awards ceremony on Saturday night in the conference room of the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.
Daryll Martin earned the top awards of the night as he was named Most Valuable Player of the league and the best goal scorer.
Martin hails from the champion team, Dew’s Vipers.
The award for best midfielder was shared between Chad Vidal of runners-up Gail Christian Law Enforcers and Albert Michael.
Messiah Hillhouse claimed the title of best defender, while Jamie Archibald and Damie Gitson were named the best goalkeepers; Archibald in the regular season and Gitson in the playoffs.
Francisco Matthias was named Manager of the Year, while Coach of the Year was awarded to Keisha Brodie of Law Enforcers.
Hermitage Bay Strikers, Law Enforcers, St. John’s Development Corporation (SJDC) and Dew’s Vipers were the zone winners.
Dew’s Vipers were crowned the champions of the Business Football League while Gail Christian Law Enforcers settled for second.
Hermitage Bay Strikers secured the bronze medals.
The awardees received gifts from Digicel, Rex Resorts and Cool & Smooth.
