Bullets hit their target, United Stars plow 300 in local softball

Brysons Shipping & Insurance Bullets recorded the largest margin of victory in softball cricket over the weekend, beating Jennings Rockets by 109 runs when they clashed in the Rackaman Construction Antigua and Barbuda Softball Cricket Association (ABSCA), Sharon Joseph T20 League on Sunday.

Batting first in the female competition, Bullets gathered 163 in their 20 overs, losing four wickets in the process. They were led by Lana Thomas who top-scored with 70, and Cheryl Williams with 55. Denise Parker was the top bowler for the opposing team with one wicket for 12 runs in two overs.

Jennings Rockets, in reply, could only reach 54 before they were all out in 14.3 overs.  Valarie Isaac hit 19 runs. Mauricia Willette was the pick of the bowlers for Bullets as she claimed three wickets for just six runs in three overs.

In the other female clash on Sunday, Potters Uprising had the better of Nat Pan My Team by 10 wickets.

Meanwhile, in the Racakaman Construction, ABSCA Myron “Percy” Phillip T20 League, United Stars dominated Lee’s Landscaping 300 to win by 84 runs.

Playing in the men’s competition, United Stars posted 135 all out in 19 overs with Kenroy Frederick leading the charge with 32 runs. Laukland Burton and Jared Roberts each contributed with 23 runs. Shaquelle Richards was the pick of the bowlers for 300, claiming four wickets for just eight runs in his two overs.

When their turn at the crease arrived, 300 could only muster a reply of 50 all out in 12.1 overs. Kennedy Tonge was best with the bat as he hit 33. Anon Al Burton proved the most difficult bowler for United, taking five wickets for five runs in 3.1 overs. Burton had assistance from Stelbert Plant who picked up two wickets for one run in two overs.

In another men’s contest, AUA Cool & Smooth PMS beat Rackaman Construction Strictly Business Reloaded by 72 runs.

PMS gathered 153 all out in 19.2 overs with Jason Deeges making 57. Tony Straker and Ricky Sebastian each had three wickets bowling for Reloaded.

In reply, Reloaded fell short at 81 all out in 16.4 overs. Kenny Benjamin grabbed four wickets for 21 runs in four overs.

In other results, Old Road defeated Buckleys 3J’s by 45 runs while Flyers won over Bouyon Kings by default after the team did not have the minimum number of players required to start the match.
