Bullets, Fort Road win to remain in promotion hunt

Pigotts Bullets stayed in the hunt for promotion to the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Premier Division on Thursday when they overcame Empire FC 3-0.

Playing at home, Bullets had all three goals in the first half. Dale Gardner put the former top flight contenders ahead in the fourth minute before Renier Cedeira added to his team’s tally in the 11th minute.

Akeem Isaac sealed the deal just before the interval when he struck from close range in the 37th minute.

The victory pushed Bullets to 25 points, just two points behind leaders All Saints United and John Hughes, who both have 27 points.

Bullets have however played 13 times, two times more than leaders United and one more than second placed John Hughes. Empire, having lost their sixth match in 13 outings, are seventh in the 12-team standings with 17 points.

There was victory as well for Potters Tigers who beat Willikies FC 3-2 when they clashed in Potters.

The home team was led by striker Keon Greene who recorded a hattrick, netting in minutes 26, 34 and 80 to move Tigers onto 19 points from 13 showings and fifth in the standings.

Davide Martin and Devonte Gore were on target for Willikies as they scored in minutes 46 and 66 respectively. Willikies remains on 16 points and eighth in the standings.

In the other match played on Thursday, Fort Road had the better of Ottos Rangers by a 1-0 margin. The lone strike of the contest came from Omar Samuel who scored in minute 66. The victors move to 20 points and fourth in the standings, while Rangers are sixth with 17 points.
