Bullets edge former champions SAP in FA’s top flight while Scorpions blank Warriors in Second Division

Pigotts Bullets won only their third match of the 2023/24 domestic football season when, on Monday, they edged former champions SAP FC 3-2 in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Premier Division at the body’s Technical Centre located on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway.

The win was Bullets’ third in 11 showings as they move to 12 points and 10th on the standings while SAP remains on 10 points and 11th on the 16-team standings.

The Pigotts men took the lead in minute 35 via a Seigel Rodney strike but SAP drew level five minutes later when Tyrique Tonge struck from the penalty spot. The former champions took command of the game three minutes later via a strike from veteran Peter Byers to put them 2-1 up.

The tables however turned in the second half as Akeem Isaac brought Bullets back on level terms when he hit home from the penalty spot in minute 46. Dorisca Markens found the winner in minute 52 as Bullets took all three points from the contest.

Meanwhile, in the Second Division, Freeman’s Village Scorpions blanked the struggling Young Warriors FC 12-nil as they maintained their position at the top of the standings with 33 points after 13 outings.

Playing at home, Scorpions were led by striker Darius Hector who scored in minutes 13, 19, 31, 60 and 64. There were double strikes from Malik Charles (14 & 49) and former national player Roy Gregory (34 & 39) while Mekai Lewis (10) and Adrian Benjamin (30) all scored once. The other conversion came from Tyrique Bird who scored an own-goal in minute 82.

There was victory as well for Sea View Farm who beat Real Blizzard 3-1 when they met at New Winthorpes.

Klyster Rowe scored twice with goals in minutes 56 and 74 while Rhezal Gomes scored the other goal for the victors in minute 21. The win carries them to 28 points from 12 matches as they remain second on the standings.

Millique London scored the only goal for Real Blizzard when he struck in minute 53. Blizzard remains on 15 points after 12 showings and 13th on the standings.
