Bullets and Enforcers soar to softball titles

Bryson’s Shipping & Insurance Bullets and Sagicor Life Enforcers were crowned male and female champions in the Caribbean Alliance Insurance 30 Overs Softball League following convincing triumphs in their respective finals.


Playing in the men’s final, Bullets defeated Wadadli Events Services Old Road by 45 runs.


Batting first, Bullets amassed 131 before they were all out in 30 overs. Richie Thomas had a top score of 28 while Morrison Browne added 23 runs to the total. Marvin Webson was best with the ball for Old Road as he claimed four wickets for 14 runs in six overs. Hezekiah Weston chipped in with three wickets for 33 in six overs.


When their turn at the crease arrived, Old Road could only muster a reply of 86 all out in 22.4 overs. Vincie Bowen was best with the bat as he made 22.


Kimani George did the damage with the ball for Bullets, snatching five wickets for just 18 runs in five overs which included one maiden. Owen Graham also had a good time with the ball, claiming two wickets for 20 runs in 2.4 overs.


Meanwhile, in the women’s final, Enforcers clipped the wings of Wadadli Events Services Female Flyers by seven wickets.


Batting first, Female Flyers were restricted to 92 for four in 25 overs. Terez Parker top-scored with 44 not-out while there was one wicket each for Gaynell O’Garro and Diana Hector. O’Garro bagged one for 13 in five overs while Hector snatched her single victim for 17 runs, also in five overs.


In their chase, Enforcers reached 93 for three in 19 overs. Joan Samuel top scored with 43 not out while O’Garro chipped in with 24.


Coller Simon and Monique Titus each picked up one wicket in a losing effort for Female Flyers.
