Bryson’s Shipping & Insurance Bullets and Sagicor Life Enforcers are the new male and female T20 softball cricket champions following victories in the finals of both competitions hosted by the Antigua and Barbuda Softball Cricket Association (ABSCA) on Sunday.
Playing in Swetes, Bullets dominated Wadadli Events Services Old Road to win by 95 runs and lift the Rackaman Construction-sponsored Myron “Percy” Phillip 20/20 League men’s trophy.
Batting first, Bullets raised 230 for six in their 20 overs with Wilston Charles getting more than half of his team’s total with 135 not out. Vincie Bowen was the pick of the bowlers for the losing team with two wickets for 82 runs in just 3.4 overs.
Old Road fell short in their chase and ironically made only 135, equaling Charles’ individual score, before they were all out in 16.3 overs. Bowen returned with the bat to hit a top score of 53 for Old Road.
Bowling for Bullets, Vaughn Charles snatched four wickets for 21 runs in four overs, Kimani George picked up two for 36 in four overs and Deran Benta claimed two for 37 in 2.3 overs.
Meanwhile, Enforcers defeated Female Flyers by nine wickets to lift the Rackaman Construction Sharon Joseph 20/20 League title.
Played also in Swetes, Female Flyers batted first and posted a meager 96 for nine in 20 overs. Sevly Ireland top scored with 36 runs while Makada Samuel added 22 to the total. Kimberly Anthony starred with the ball for Enforcers, claiming three wickets for 13 runs in three overs. Sharon Francis chipped in with the ball, picking up three wickets for 16 runs in three overs. Enforcers then made light work of the chase, getting to 98 for one in just 17.5 overs. Gaynell O’Garro and Joan Samuel were 43 and 20 not-out respectively
