Bulldogs suffer first loss

The Antigua and Barbuda men’s senior basketball team, the Bulldogs, suffered their first loss in the ongoing FIBA AmeriCup 2021 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers in Suriname.
The Bulldogs who already qualified for the semi-finals were trounced by powerhouse team, Haiti, 76-59 in their Group B match on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite a 13-point, four rebounds effort by Cohen DeSouza and a 13 point effort by veteran, Lennox “Termite” McCoy, the Bulldogs could not end their group campaign undefeated, settling for the second-place spot.
Adonis Humphreys contributed with 10 points and five rebounds.
Marvin Dominique was the leading scorer for the Haitians with 23 points and seven rebounds with assistance from Hernest Larroche sinking 15 points, grabbing five rebounds and making six assists.
Jeantal Cyella chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds while Jeffrey Coby contributed with 10 points and seven rebounds for the victors.
The Bulldogs will be in action tonight in their semi-final encounter with the hope of advancing to the finals scheduled for Saturday night.
