A day affected by rain saw a doozy-of-a-match in the LL Supply Ltd & Total Imports Island Boys Sports Club (IBSC) 20-Over Tape Ball Classic as Bryson Bullets Tassilo Allen and company of Bullets ran riot over the Mix-Up Stars.
Playing the second scheduled match at Powells, Bryson’s Shipping & Insurance Bullets demolished Mix-Up Stars by an astounding 308 runs. After winning the toss, Bullets posted a mammoth 358 for seven in their 20 overs, setting what is likely a tournament record.
Allen anchored the innings by smashing 107 runs off just 53 balls, including seven fours and 10 sixes. He was well-supported by Deran Benta (55) and George Elvin (51), with Kimani George chipping-in 38. Mix-Up Stars’ bowlers Isaiah Viville’s three for 59, and Mark Wright’s three for 67, managed to pick up wickets but at a heavy cost.
In reply, Mix-Up Stars crumbled under the pressure of the huge target, being bowled out for a mere 50 runs in 13.4 overs. Kimani George continued his fine all-round performance, taking five wickets for just 11 runs in three overs, while Kerry Burton provided excellent support with two wickets for eight runs in his three overs, including a maiden.
However, the day at Powell’s began with disappointment as the match between Dredgers and Pelican Safari/The Nest Beach Bar & Restaurant VIP had to be abandoned due to a wet pitch.
At Potters, Buckleys 3J’s were awarded a win by default as their opponents, Pete’s Landscaping 300, failed to show-up for the first match.
The day’s final game saw Gladys Potter (GP) Eagles showcase their dominance with a 10-wicket victory over PMS. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, PMS struggled against a disciplined Eagles bowling attack, managing only 79 runs before being bowled out in 10.5 overs. Malinga Bruney top-scored with 41, while Keif Baltimore two for four, John Lewis two for 13 and Ajahrie Joseph two for 20, shared the bowling honours for Eagles.
In response, GP Eagles made short work of the target, reaching 81 for no loss in just 4.1 overs. Kerry Mentore led the charge with an unbeaten 48, while John Lewis contributed 22 not out, capping off his all-round performance.
