Bridges Jr dominates King of the Hills cycling race

Veteran cyclist, Jyme Bridges Jr of Team Viper, emerged overall winner in the 2024 King of Hills Race put on by the East Side Raiders Cycling Club on Sunday.

The national cyclist clocked an overall time of 1:47:21.93 to capture both the Elite Male category and the overall title in the event, which saw riders take on some of the country’s toughest climbs, including the Shirley Heights route.

Bridges finished just ahead of another veteran rider and former national cyclist, Robert Marsh of East Side Raiders, who clocked a time of 1:47:27.26 in second while Conroy Thomas of Team Terminix, another national rider, finished third in the Elite Male with a time of 1:54:43.52. Marcus Ozuna of Team Pillars Cycling and David Simmons of East Side Raiders, were fourth and fifth respectively.

Meanwhile, national junior cyclist Tahje Browne of Wadadli Cycling Academy, dominated the Junior Male category, clocking a time of 1:53:39.21 to take the top podium position. Aiden Tonge and Jomari King, who also junior national riders and both from the Team Viper cycling club, were second and third respectively. Tonge registered a time of 1:54:21.17 while King had a time of 1:56:51.60.

There was action in the Maters category as well with Edward Henry of the Andre Simon Cycling Academy clocking a winning time of 1:58:51.26. Road Runners Cycling Club’s Tiziano Rosignoli was second with a time of 1:59:41.73 while Vaughn Gomes of the Andre Simon Cycling Academy clocked 2:02:32.48 to finish third.

Telesha Choy of Team Viper, was the lone female competitor in the event, registering a time of 2:10:11.86. The Sports Class was captured by Tacuma Davis of Road Runners Cycling Club in a time of 2:17:41.00 while Elite Thomas of Team Viper won the Cadets 11-14 age category in a time of 1:22:53.07.
