Hon. Baldwin Spencer Braves shocked defending playoff champions, Flyers, in the first round of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) 2019 Playoffs on Monday to take game one of their best of three series by a slim 79-76 margin at the JSC Basketball Complex.

Braves, a team that struggled in regular season play, was led by Roger Hood who sank 32 points, and Brian Holmes who assisted with 19.

Flyers, a team that has been near-perfect this season, had their best effort coming from Torey Fassett who finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds while Sharife Sargent contributed with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The results mean that Flyers must win back-to-back games against a seemingly rejuvenated Braves if they are to move into the next round of the playoffs.

Meanwhile, in the other Division One contest on Monday, Potters Steelers took a 1-0 series lead with a 64-51 triumph over Ottos Full Throttle in their best of three series.
