Bolans fall to Blackhawks in 10 Splash tournament

PIC Liberta Blackhawks found themselves in the winner’s circle over the weekend in the ongoing Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) 10 Splash tournament

The Blackhawks won by 67 runs over Bolans Blasters as both teams squared off at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

The victors posted a score of 152 for 3 in their full 10 overs.

Joshua Thomas was not out for 46 and Avier Christian not out for 34.

Other players in double figures included Amahl Nathaniel with 24, Rahkeem Cornwall with 22, and Kadeem Phillip with 17.

Taeim Tonge, Martin Caesar and Klasskey Athill all took one wicket.

Despite a 42-run performance with three fours and three sixes by Tajeja Tonge, Bolans could not blast themselves to a victory as they could only muster up 85 runs, losing seven wickets in the process.

Earl Waldron and Taeim Tonge made 11 and 10 runs in a losing effort.

Blackhawks’ Javier Spencer and Ephraim Pollard both took two wickets in their team’s win.

The Pigotts Crushers and Police match was, however, abandoned while Crushers was batting. They were 16 for one in 2.3 overs.

The encounter between New Winthorpes Lions and Rising Sun Spartans was also abandoned after little over an hour of play.

Spartans won the toss and opted to bat first where they posted a score of 52 for seven from 10 overs.

Lions with just two overs having passed and with 10 runs on their scorecard could not continue in their pursuit to 53 runs as the match was called off.

Teams have been placed in two zones for the tournament with the Liberta Blackhawks, New Winthorpes Lions, Pigotts Crushers, Police, Bolans Blasters and Rising Sun Spartans in Zone A, while Empire Nation, Bethesda Golden Eagles, Combined Schools, All Saints Pythons, Freetown, and Jennings Tigers occupying Zone B.

The winning team will take home $5,000.
