Police have finally been able to identify the burned body of a man found amid the rubble of a house gutted by fire three months ago.
The deceased is said to be Regal “Trini” Samuel who lived in the Fort Road dwelling where he died.
On April 17th of this year, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department were probing the circumstances in which Samuel’s charred body was found after the blaze which destroyed the structure.
Firefighters reportedly rushed to the scene around 11 pm to extinguish the flames that had engulfed the house, which neighbors said was frequented by a vagrant. At the time, a source told OBSERVER media that the body had been burned beyond recognition.
An autopsy is still due to be performed on Samuel’s remains in order to ascertain what exactly caused his death.
This Fort Road fire was one of 23 that took place between April 11th and 23rd, official reports from the Fire Department revealed.
The large number of fires generated much concern, with Chief Fire Officer Elvis Weaver saying he believed they were the result of carelessness on the part of occupants.
