Action continued in the national Under-23 Volleyball Tournament over the weekend with victories for Blockbusters in the male division and Sugar and Spikes in the female division.
Playing at the indoor volleyball court at the YMCA Sports Complex, Blockbusters rebounded from their shocking defeat last weekend to beat El Hombre three sets to one in Saturday’s feature contest.
El Hombre however drew first blood when they took the opening set 26-24.
They seemingly ran out of steam following the opening triumph and lost the following three sets 18-25; 26-28 and 19-25.
Meanwhile, in Satur-day’s opening match, Sugar and Spikes pulled off an upset when they defeated High Impact 3-2 in sets in the female division.
High Impact did everything possible to lose the game. In the final act,
High Impact was leading 13-10 but lost the set 16-14.
The final scores were 25-13; 23-25; 25-17; 21-25; 14-16.
Meanwhile on Friday, Microwave melted Fusion, winning the contest 3-0 in sets. Fusion, the weakest of the four female teams, were defeated 25-11; 25-16 and 25-15 in the best of five sets.
Friday’s feature contest proved much more competitive as, once again, Danglesz proved a handful by beating Nazis 3-2 in sets.
The scores were 20-25; 25-20; 29-27; 22-25 and 14-16.
The competition is slated to continue this weekend at the YMCA.
