Despite a 1-0 loss in their final match to Martinique, Head Coach of the Under-15 Benna Boys team who competed at the CONCACAF Under-15 Championships terms it a successful tournament.

Desmond “Zico” Bleau spoke positively of the young footballers after their loss earlier today at the IMG Academy in Florida.

“We would have wanted to end the tournament on a more positive note. However, the boys would have represented well. I mean, losing 1-0 on a deflection in injury time is never an easy pill to swallow. Understandably the boys are a little dejected, so it’s just our job to maintain and manage emotions and we had a quick word with them.

“For me in my estimation, the tournament would have been successful. Finishing second in our group and hopefully that would have put us in good stead in promotion to Division One. The boys have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, they worked really, really hard. They fought valiantly and we must give them tremendous credit for laying their bodies on the line and representing the country with distinction,” the coach said.

Meanwhile, the Under-14 Benna Girls team suffered a 2-1 defeat to St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the Warner Park Sporting Complex in St. Kitts.
