CUB Bethesda Golden Eagles, on Saturday, took their unbeaten run to three in as many matches as the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) State Insurance Super 40 Cricket Competition continued at venues across the country.

Playing at home, Bethesda made light work of a struggling Bolans Blasters squad, winning by 229 runs.

Winning the toss and opting to bat, Bethesda were led by captain Deran Benta as he slammed 15 fours and 10 mighty sixes to rack up the tournament’s first century at 172 off just 109 deliveries. Benta got support from Emanuel Lawrence who made 44 as Bethesda amassed 309 for nine in their 40 overs.

Taiem Tonge and T. Urskin were the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, claiming three for 71 and two for 40 respectively.

Bolans were then bundled out for just 80 runs with their best effort from Richie Thomas who made 32 runs. Former Leeward Islands and West Indies spinner, Anthony Martin, proved a handful for the visitors, picking up five wickets for four runs in four overs.

Meanwhile, Anderson Carty Empire Nation had their winning streak snapped by New Winthorpes Lions who won the contest by three wickets away from home.

Winning the toss and opting to bat, Empire Nation posted 198 for nine in their allotment of 40 overs. They were led by Leeward Islands opener Kieran Powell who made 32. Brandon Jn Baptiste made 24 while Kenrick Scott added 23 to the effort.

Orandel Boston led the charge with the ball for New Winthorpes, bagging three wickets for 32 runs in eight overs. Ian Eusebe and Asher Cornelius each claimed two wickets.

When their turn at the crease arrived, Lions reached their target with 5.1 overs to spare, getting to 200 for seven in 34.5 overs. Eusebe led the charge with 61 off 76 balls while Shavon Moore added 45. Cleton Payne was the pick of the bowlers for Empire, claiming four for 37 in eight overs while Omali Heyliger snagged three for 47 from eight overs.

There was victory as well for Rising Sun Spartans as they handed PIC Liberta Blackhawks their third straight loss in as many matches.

Put in to bat after losing the toss, Blackhawks raised 205 for four in a match reduced to 30 overs due to a damp pitch. Captain Kofi James slammed eight fours and five sixes on his way to 102 in 91 deliveries. Karima Gore managed 33 in 35 balls.

Spartans, in their chase, reached 207 for eight to win the contest by two wickets. Dario Hodge was not out on 44 while M. Charles made 43. Avier Christian was the pick of the bowlers for Blackhawks with three for 42 in six overs. Karima Gore snatched two for 24 in six overs. In other matches played on Saturday, All Saints Pythons defeated Pigotts Crushers by five wickets while Jennings easily dispatched of Massy Insurance Combined Schools by 135 runs.
