The Antigua & Barbuda under-15 football team completed a clean sweep of Division III in the CONCACAF Boys Championships on Wednesday when they clinched a 1-0 victory over Dominica at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
The lone strike came from Connor Hadeed as the young Benna Boys racked up a total of eight goals in three matches while
keeping clean sheets throughout.
Coach Schyan Jeffers commended the players for their efforts.
“This is the first time the youngsters have been playing together and it was hard on their bodies and we still won all three games 100 percent with no goals conceded and they played some very good football. It was a pleasure to watch them and I am happy with all of the results,” he said.
As for Wednesday’s contest, Jeffers said it was probably their toughest of the championships.
“It was a tough game today, the guys were a bit jaded. Dominica came out physical and we didn’t get any rest, played two games back to back in less than 24 hours so there was no time for recovery and the game was 9 in the morning so it was very tough for us but all in all the guys gave a good showing and they managed to come out with a win,” the coach said.
Antigua & Barbuda enjoyed a 5-0 opening victory against Grenada on Sunday before beating St Martin 2-0 on Tuesday.
