The Antigua and Barbuda Benna Boys were handed their first defeat of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against the Cayman Islands, losing one nil on Sunday morning.

The match was initially to be played on Saturday but torrential rain prevented it from being played as scheduled. Rescheduled to Sunday morning, the Antiguans were able to exercise ball possession on a ratio of 55 percent to Cayman’s 45 percent.

They also had more shot attempts with 18 compared to their opponents’ 10 but despite these improvements from their last encounter, the Islanders were able to sneak the only goal of the match in the 90+1 minute as Joshwa Campbell’s header from the right side of the six yards box found its way into the back of the net from a set piece situation.

Antigua and Barbuda will now have to wait a year before they play the next qualifier against Cuba on the 6th of June 2025.
