Bendals shock Empire in First Division

Bendals FC pulled off a shocking one-nil win over former Premier Division champions Empire FC when they clashed in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) First Division on Tuesday at the Keithley Sheppard Recreation Park (KSRP).

The lone goal of the contest came in the dying stages when Mitcheo Edwards headed home a corner kick to hand Bendals their first win in six showings. The loss was Empire’s second in six outings as well.

Meanwhile, Swetes FC recorded a dominant 3-0 win over Urlings when they met in Urlings. National striker Shalon Knight led with a double while Railique Browne accounted for the other goal. There was victory as well for former top flight champions, SAP FC, as they beat Tryum FC 2-0. Playing at Cashew Hill, SAP had goals from Devonte Geran in the 77th and Bea-Jay Williams in the 87th as they made light work of the home team.

In the Second Division, Real Blizzard rallied to a 3-1 triumph over Young Warriors who remains winless in the competition. Allan Matthew opened the scoring for Blizzard in the eighth minute before Nathan Fenton added two more in the 21st and 24th minutes to make it 3-0. Andrace Haddad pulled a goal back for Young Warriors in minute 33.
