Press Release: Belmont Man Charged With Attempted Murder

Police have charged 19yr-old Leandro “pepe” Payano of Belmont on Wednesday with wounding with intent to murder. He is accused of wounding 20yr-old Kelsi Cain of Bendals a week ago, on Bendals Road.
Cain and his girlfriend were walking along Bendals Road around 5pm on August 3^rd, when the accused accosted them and started an argument. A fight ensued, and the accused allegedly picked up a stone and struck Cain across his head, knocking him unconscious. He was transported to Mount St. Johns Medical Center by a friend with severe head injuries. Payano was later arrested by the police and taken into custody. He is expected before the Court (Today) Thursday.
