Beach Boys handcuff Police in Division Three basketball

Court Marshall Beach Boys enjoyed the largest margin of victory in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association’s (ABBA) competition on Monday night, shackling Police Vertex 74-53 to win by 21 points in Division Three. 

Baldwin Anthony Jr carried the torch for Beach Boys, sinking 18 points and grabbing 24 rebounds for one of three double-double performances in the contest. He was assisted by Dorian Whyte who hit 14 points and picked up 12 rebounds also for a double-double performance. Daniel Thomas also picked up 14 points for the victors. 

In a losing effort, Alfred Telemaque led the charge for Vertex off the bench with a double-double, hitting 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Kevorn Jackson contributed with 12 points and eight rebounds while Gavin Walker had 11 points. 

Still in Division Three, Wadadli Elite defeated Fearless Crew 91-74 to win by 17 points. Tamraj Stewart was magnificent off the bench for Elite, racking up a game-high 34 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Javonte Daley added 15 points to the effort while Ginobili Cornwall and Tequan Broodie each sank 11 points. 

In the other Division Three contest, JJ United clinched a 66-52 victory over Young Warriors. Neville Chambers was best on show for the winners with 20 points and nine rebounds John Samuel and Corey Millett each ended with 14 points.

On target for Young Warriors were Irwin Mills with 24 points and Jared James with 13 points and 12 rebounds. 

Meanwhile, in the lone Division Two game played on Monday, Old Road Daggers defeated Ottos Clippers 67-57 to win by 10 points. 

Ariel Quallis led the victor’s charge with 23 points and 11 rebounds while Craig Thomas added 12 points and six rebounds to the winning effort. Daryll Matthew was the only scorer of note for Clippers with 21 points and 22 rebounds.
