It was a historic day for the Cool and Smooth Inter-school Basketball league as games were played at the Villa Primary basketball court.

It is the first in over 30 years since an organised match has been played on the grounds.

The home team did not disappoint as they were victorious over Combined, 12-4, in the Mini-boys Primary division.

Meanwhile, at JSC, the Semper Virens — Antigua Grammar School (AGS) — did not live up to their motto ‘Always Flourishing’ as both the Junior and Senior boys’ teams lost their matches.

Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS) edged out AGS, 27-26, in the Junior boys’ match-up with Gregory Bridges leading the way with 16 points.

Teammate and brother Carlos Bridges chipped in netting nine.

Greg Daniel was the lone player in double for AGS with 14 points. Kristian Winter was the second highest scorer with six.

Antigua State College (ASC) handed AGS their second loss of the day by trouncing them 76-41.

Jamar Bird had a game high 15 points for the victors with assistance from Tshawn Lewis who sank 14.

Brothers Antoine and Amare Browne scored a combined 20 points for AGS with Antoine netting 13 and Amare, seven.

A day prior Clare Hall Secondary School got the better of OCS, edging them out 48-43 in the Senior Boys division.

Clare Hall’s Angel Chatham led all scorers with 17 points while teammates Jaheem James and Adrian Carnegie had 13 and 10 points respectively.

OCS’ Kenwah James and Gregory Bridges both netted 10 points.

No games have been scheduled for today due to the mid-term break.
