An upper Fort Road man charged with snatching a woman’s purse will make his first court appearance today.
Thirty-seven-year-old Dwight Wynter was charged by police with larceny over the weekend.
He is accused of stealing a wallet from a Perry Bay woman while she was walking along Corn Alley last week Wednesday.
The woman was reportedly taking her granddaughter to school when the accused allegedly walked up behind her, snatched her wallet and fled. At the time, the wallet contained EC$550, US$150, an Antigua and Barbuda Social Security Card, a Dominican Republic and an Antigua and Barbuda passport, among other documents and items of value.
A report was made to the police that eventually led to his arrest and subsequent charge. So far, none of the stolen items have been recovered.
He is expected in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court today.
