Attacking Saints stay atop Second Division standings as Golden Grove get huge win

Attacking Saints racked up their seventh victory in nine showings in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Second Division on Tuesday as they remain atop the 15 team standings with 22 points.

Their latest triumph came in the form of a 3-0 trouncing of Bethesda with Kerron McKenzie leading the way with a brace. McKenzie netted in minutes 13 and 79 while Joshua Samuel scored in the 32nd minute. Bethesda remain on seven points from seven showings.

Also on Tuesday, Sea View Farm won for the sixth time in eight showings when they beat English Harbour 2-0 at the ABFA technical center. Farm had goals from Jahwan Harvey in minute 27 and Chevron Moore in minute 36.

The win puts Farm on 19 points from their eight showings and into the top three, while Harbour remain on 12 points from 19 matches.

Golden Grove FC recorded the largest margin of victory on Tuesday, dismantling Tamo FC 9-0 when they met in Golden Grove.

Akeem Francis led with a hattrick, netting in minutes one, 21 and 42 while Curt Francis scored a double with strikes in minutes 31 and 34. Terrance Spencer also scored a double, hitting the back of the net in minutes 80 and 89 while Daryl Samuel and Jermaine Saverino both scored once in the huge victory.

The win put Golden Grove on 10 points after six showings while Tamo FC remain at the bottom of the standings without a point.

In the other match contested Tuesday, Freeman’s Village FC defeated Young Warriors 2-0. Makai Lewis led the way for the home team with a double, scoring in minutes 44 and 74. Freeman’s Village are now fourth with 18 points from seven matches, while Warriors have six points in the number 11 position.
