Two athletes set to compete in this year’s Rohrman Triathlon have expressed confidence and great anticipation ahead of the event scheduled for August 24-25 at Ffryes Beach.

Trinidad and Tobago tri-athlete Isaac Tuberoso, set to fly in for the annual event being held this year in honour of national cyclist Andre Simon who died in 2023, said it was an honour to have received the invitation to compete in Antigua.

“When I got invited to swim in Antigua which, if you know, is a beautiful place with lovely turquoise waters, it felt like a huge win for me to be able to go and support this race which I know is in honour of another athlete and also to go and do things that I love to do,” he said.

Tuberoso is set to compete in the swimming and running aspect of the event.

National athlete, Ireuben Edward, confirmed he will compete in the trail run aspect of the event, revealing that he is well-prepared for the challenge.

“For me, I don’t think I am really going to be training that much because I tried it out on Saturday and I feel like I can do it. This would be my first time doing such a long run and I am really excited to do it,” the athlete said.

Meanwhile Rory Butler, who is one of the main organizers of the event, made a final plea for athletes and teams to complete the registration process.

“I’ll be honest and say it’s a lot slower than previous years and again, it’s been a bit more difficult not being on the ground to get the word out, but we’re just past over a hundred persons so far. Actually, the last time we had the event we had over 400 but we have until next week so we will see how the numbers go,” he said.

Registration can be done only via the Ticketing app and also at HG Paints located on Dickenson Bay Street.
