Several winners were crowned on Sunday morning at the Antigua and Barbuda Triathlon Association’s (ABTA) Triathlon & Aquathlon Championships at Fryes Beach.
In the female triathlon 11-12 age group, Maeh Butler won the title in a time of 42 minutes and 35 seconds.
Elite Thomas won the male’s equivalent in a time of 47 minutes and 55 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the aquathlon section, Angelique Gittens won the female 16-19 age category while Tamiko Butler was the female open champion finishing in a time of 35 minutes and eight seconds.
The competition was to serve as a selection event for the country’s training squad ahead of this year’s Carifta Triathlon Championships slated for September 24-26 in Bermuda, but according to the organisers these four winners will be a part of a training squad for final team selection.
Plans are also in the works to host another trials.
