ASC named champions, despite loss

It was a bittersweet moment for Antigua State College’s Senior Boys team last Friday, as they were crowned champions despite suffering their first loss of the season to Clare Hall Secondary School (CHSS) in the Cool and Smooth-sponsored Inter-School Basketball League.

The 46-36 defeat saw Adrian Carnegie lead CHSS with 14 points.

He was assisted by Javonte Davis and Andre Edwards who netted eight points.

Tshawn Lewis had a game-high 20 points for the newly-crowned champions with assistance from Jamar Bird who sank nine.

Christ the King High School kept their perfect record alive, this time edging Irene B. Williams Secondary School 17-16 in the Senior Girls’ category.

Shavon Joseph was the leading scorer for the victorious team with nine points, while teammate, MaryJane Grant, made six.

Dennika Bascum, in a losing effort, had a game-high 12 points.

Meanwhile, in the Junior Boys section, St. Anthony’s Secondary School trounced Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS) 43-6.

Luke Doumith had 14 points for the victors with assistance from Devonte Carter who scored seven.

Keon David made three points for OCS.
