APUA’s Fuel Variation to fall again

The Public Utilities Ministry is reporting that APUA’s fuel variation charge on electricity will be reduced to $0.60 as of Sunday, March 1.

The public has been lobbying for a reduction in the fuel charge to match the global decline in oil prices.

The government had earlier reduced the fee from $0.74 per kilowatt hour to $0.69 from February, 1.

In a statement, Public Utilities Minister Robin Yearwood said his ABLP government was keeping its promise to reduce the cost of electricity.

He adds that he will continue to work to ensure that electricity rates remain affordable.
