The Central Football Club, competing in the Trinidad & Tobago Pro League, has officially announced that it has signed Antiguan defender, Vashami Allen, ahead of the final round for next month’s Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championships.
Central FC, who are the defending champions in the competition, will host Group A which also includes Grenades FC of Antigua & Barbuda and Cibao of the Dominican Republic.
Allen, who was part of Antigua & Barbuda’s under-20 squad that advanced to the CONCACAF finals of the World Cup Qualifiers last year, is expected to feature for Central in the tough Group A slated to kick off on May 14.
The player was understandably excited when contacted.
“I am looking forward to playing in the Club Championships; very excited to play at this level and come up against the other teams,” Allen said.
“I am still adjusting somewhat in terms of the playing style and also the heat but it has been a great experience so far,” he added.
The 20-year-old Allen represented All Saints United during the Antigua & Barbuda Football Association’s First Division competition this year, but previously played for Fort Road in the country’s Premier Division two seasons ago.
