Antigua is experiencing severe weather conditions, with heavy showers and thunderstorms sweeping across the island.
Local meteorologist Dale Destin of 268 Weather reports significant lightning activity, with 42 strikes recorded near Antigua between 12 PM and 1 PM today.
The forecast shows an increasing chance of thunderstorms, rising from 20% today to 30% tonight, and further escalating to 50% tomorrow.
Destin advises residents and visitors to exercise extreme caution.
“When thunder roars, go indoors,” he warns, recommending that people remain inside for at least 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard.
Destin strongly discourages maritime activities during these thunderstorms and advices those who find themselves at sea during a storm, to return to shore immediately if possible, or take shelter in the cabin if return is not feasible.
