Antigua U12 girls team moves on to finals

The Antigua & Barbuda under-12 girls’ tennis team has advanced to the finals in the 2017 ITF/COTECC championships being held in Trinidad and Tobago.
Sibley Charles and Brasha Dyer teamed up to win their game in straight sets – 6-3, 6-3.
Having secured this victory, the girls will move on to the finals where they will compete with Curacao. They have also qualified for the under-12 development championship to take place in Guatemala from August 16 – 29.
The boys team was not as successful. Their bid for 7th place in the overall boys’ competition came to a halt as they lost to the BVI 0-6, 3-6. They will now go up against Grenada as they vie for the 9th overall position.
Playing in the girls’ singles, Sibley Charles was successful – winning 6-1, 6-3. However, Samaar Davis lost in 3 sets, 7-3, 3-6, 3-1.
It was a similar tale with the boys as Xaveek Toppin won 6-1, 6-3 while Jaydon Macarno lost his encounter 5-7, 6-3, 1-6.
The 2017 ITF/COTECC under-12 championships commenced on Monday 17 July and ends today.
