Antigua boxer advances in London championships

Antiguan Alston Ryan has reached the semi-final round of the Senior Development Championships in London in the lightweight category sponsored by the British Amateur Association by defeating John Cooney from Arena Gym.
Ryan won on all the judges’ scorecards as he convincingly defeated John Cooney.
Alston’s semifinal bout will be on Sunday 22 October at the Perdiswell Leisure Center in Worcester against Shea Field from the Bulmeshe gym.
Former World Light Middleweight Champion Maurice Hope continues in his high praise of Alston’s success and believes that he can make Antigua and Barbuda proud in the Commonwealth Games 2018 and the Tokyo Olympic 2020.
Meanwhile, team Antigua and Barbuda continues to train and prepare for the premier boxing tournament in the region – the Caribbean Boxing Championships, to be held in St. Lucia in December.
