Antigua and Barbuda Rebound in ECCB International Netball Series with Win Over Anguilla

Antigua and Barbuda rebounded from back-to-back losses in the 2024 ECCB International Netball Series with a confident 81-27 victory over Anguilla at the Beausejour Indoor Facility in Castries, St Lucia, on Wednesday.

Goal shoot Rayana Regis was in fine form with a 91.25 conversion rate, sinking 73 of 80 attempts. Substitute goal shoot, Zhanira Pereira contributed with seven of her eight attempts while goal attack Amey Lake made good on her lone attempt.

In a losing effort, goal shoot Tishana Depass-Smith hit 17 of 25 for Anguilla while goal attack Lakisha Hughes bagged 10 of 13 attempts.

Antigua and Barbuda were previously beaten 68-37 to St Vincent and the Grenadines and 55-38 of hosts St. Lucia. The Wadadli Girls opened their campaign with a 39-37 triumph against defending champions Grenada on Sunday.

Also on Wednesday, Grenada had the better of Dominica 55-30. The Spice Girls were led by goal shoot Carlene Alexander with 40 of 41 attempts as she shot at a 97.56 percentage. Goal attack Celina Brown chipped in with 14 of 19 attempts with substitute goal shoot, Brittany Jones, hitting one of two attempts.

Goal shoot Anna-Maria Panthier led the scoring for Dominica, picking up 23 of 31 attempts while goal attacks Melisa Williams and Kenya John, had two of two and five of five attempts respectively.

In a close encounter, St Vincent and the Grenadines edged St Lucia 56-45 for their third straight win of the tournament. Goal shoot, Mary-Ann Frederick, led the charge for the victors with 47 of 49 attempts while goal attack Kristiana Christopher bagged all nine of her attempts for a 100 percent shooting record.

Goal attack, Deaha Eugene, was the top scorer for St Lucia, sinking 22 of 27 attempts while goal shoot Merlessa Alfred contributed with 20 of 29.

In the other game contested, Cayman Islands defeated Montserat 69-18 in a one-sided affair. Goal attack, Rose Wilson, was on target for the victors with 34 of 41 attempts while goal shoot, Kay Copelan, was a huge contributor with 30 of 36 attempts. Juana Osborne, in the goal shoot position sank 10 of 18 attempts for Montserrat with goal attack Twila Fenton bagging eight of 16.
