Team Antigua and Barbuda got off to a losing start in this year’s Billie Jean King Cup tennis tournament being held in Trinidad, losing back-to-back matches in Group 3 of the Americas Pool A.
In their latest match, Antigua and Barbuda went under to Barbados 3-0. In the opening singles contest, Antigua and Barbuda’s Janae George-Alexander went under 6-0, 6-2 to Serena Bryan.
There was defeat as well for Antigua and Barbuda’s Sibley Charles who lost 6-0, 6-0 to Barbados’ Gabrielle Leslie. The Antigua and Barbuda pair of Jolie George-Alexander and Sydney Kentish then lost the doubles.
On Monday, they were beaten 3-0 by the Bahamas.
In the singles contests, Charles was beaten 6-0, 6-1 by Simone Pratt of the Bahamas, while Janae lost to Sydney-Nicole Clarke 6-0, 6-0. The Antigua and Barbuda pair of Kentish and Jolie went under 6-0, 6-2 in the doubles contest.
Team Antigua and Barbuda comprises Sibley Charles, Janae George-Alexander, Jolie George-Alexander and Sydney Kentish.
