Antigua and Barbuda recorded a third place finish at the recently held Eastern Caribbean Golf Championships (ECGC) in St Kitts.
The championships, held from October 7-9, was captured by St Lucia with hosts St Kitts finishing second.
Team Antigua and Barbuda had creditable performance in a number of categories with the women’s team of Alexandria Hunt, Akevia Warner and Katherine Woodhouse claiming the first net prize. There was first net honours as well for the super seniors’ team of Wesley Dyer and Roger Vere Ambrose.
The senior men’s team of Eldine Baptiste, Macus Franker and Algernon Anderson Wynter won the gross title while the men’s championship flight team of Wiltson Charles, Marquise George, Siyolo Joseph and Tetson Weatherill captured the first net prize.
Weatherill was the country’s top finisher in the men’s championship flight with 153 gross in fourth position while Joseph finished 15th in the standings.
Baptiste was the best on show in the seniors division, finishing joint 10th with Anguilla’s Larry Stott after both shot 159. Dyer excelled in the super seniors’ category to finish second after shooting 147.
For the women, Hunt dominated for Antigua and Barbuda with a second place finish after shooting 142 to finish just behind Megan Russell of the US Virgin Islands who shot 137 in the top spot.
Also in the women’s category, Woodhouse finished joint fourth with Anguilla’s Nathalie Le Senechal after they both shot 148.
