Professional player Jody Maginley won a second straight singles match while Antigua and Barbuda made it two in a row at the ongoing Davis Cup tennis competition with a 2-1 triumph over the USVI in Trinidad on Wednesday.
Taking on Jan Neuburger Higby of the USVI, Maginley won 6-3, 7-6 (7-3 tie-breaker) to go on a two-game win streak after he defeated Cuba’s Dayron Zuniga 2-0 on Tuesday’s opening day.
There was defeat however for Ron Murrain who went under 6-1, 6-0 to USVI’s Tomas Del Olmo also in the singles division.
Maginley then joined forces with Cordell Williams Jr as team Antigua and Barbuda made light work of the USVI to win 2-0 in sets. Antigua and Barbuda claimed the first match 7-6 (7-5 tiebreak) before winning the second match 6-3.
Antigua and Barbuda will rest on Thursday before returning to action on Friday.
