Antigua and Barbuda, with six points, finished fourth in the recently concluded ECCB International Netball Series after winning three and losing four of their seven encounters at the Beausejour Indoor Facility held in Castries, St Lucia.
The finish was somewhat of a regression for team Antigua and Barbuda in the tournament after having finished third in 2023 here in Antigua. St Vincent and the Grenadines topped the standings with 14 points with a perfect record of seven wins in seven outings. Last year’s champions, Grenada and host St Lucia finished second and third respectively, both with 10 points.
Dominica (six points), Montserrat (two points) and Anguilla (0 points) were fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
In recent clashes, Antigua and Barbuda were beaten 53-51 by Dominica on Sunday. Goal shoot Rayana Regis led the charge for Antigua and Barbuda with 48 of 59 attempts while goal attack Amey Lake sank three of three attempts. For the winners, goal shoot Anna-Maria Panthier made good on 29 of her 33 attempts with goal attack Gailene Gordon-Seraphine hit 21 of 28 attempts. Substitute goal attack, Melissa Williams bagged three of five attempts.
Regis was adjudged MVP for team Antigua and Barbuda.
In this final encounter, champions St. Vincent & the Grenadines overpowered Grenada 59-50. Goal shoot, Mary-Ann Fredericks produced the goods for the victors with 54 of her 60 attempts with Kristiana Christopher hitting five of seven.
For Grenada, goal shoot, Carlene Alexander bagged 36 of her 39 attempts while goal attack Celina Brown picked up 14 of her 22 attempts.
SVG’s Fredericks was the most accurate shooter in the tournament with a total of 373 goals and an accuracy rate of 92.8 percent. Jermia Martial of team St Lucia, was name Tournament MVP.
