Antigua and Barbuda were crowned champions of the Eastern Caribbean Golf Association (ECGA) Golf Tournament held here at the Cedar Valley Golf Club on October 5-6.
The 11-member home team amassed a total gross score of 658 to finish ahead of the other contenders from St. Kitts & Nevis, Barbados, St. Lucia, St Croix, St Maarten and Anguilla.
In the Men’s Gross, Antigua and Barbuda racked up a score of 21 with St Kitts & Nevis in second with a score of 43, and Barbados third with a tally of 43. St. Lucia (66), St Croix (81), St Maarten (117) and Anguilla (137) round off the table.
St Lucia captured the Senior Men’s gross category with a score of 22 with host Antigua and Barbuda in second with a score of 25. St Kitts & Nevis round off the top three with a score of 43. St Maarten (85), St Croix (87), Barbados (99), and Anguilla (128) complete the table.
Martinique and St Kitts & Nevis both finished on a gross score of 15 to finish first and second, respectively, in the Super Senior Men’s category with Antigua and Barbuda, with a gross score of 16, in the third position. St Lucia, Barbados, St Maarten, St Croix and Anguilla finished fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.
Antigua and Barbuda rebounded to claim the Ladies Gross competition with a total score of 36. St Croix (67) and St Lucia (76) were second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, Akeivia Warner (15) and Lexi Hunt (21), were the top performers in the women’s gross competition, while Wilston Charles out-performed his compatriots in the Senior Men’s Flight with a gross score of nine. Marlon George finished second in the Men’s Flight with Tedson Weatherill and Marquise George fourth and fifth respectively. Former West Indies captain Sylvester Joseph finished 10th.
In the Senior Men’s Flight, Antigua and Barbuda’s Marcus Franker and Eldine Baptiste were fifth and seventh respectively, while Wesley Dyer and Vere Ambrose were third and 11th respectively in the Super Senior Mens Flight.
Antigua and Barbuda also won the Men’s Net, the Senior Men’s Net and the Ladies Net while finishing second in the Super Senior Men-Net.
