Anjo edge out Blue Waters, Transport Board remain perfect

Anjo Wholesale pushed their record to 2-0 in the ongoing Cool and Smooth Business Basketball League on Thursday night.

Playing at the JSC Sports Complex, Anjo Wholesale edged out Blue Waters, 58-55, in the feature encounter of the triple-header evening.

Humroy Wright led his team to victory with 19 points while teammates Gerard “Dumbo” Henry and Steven Matthew chipped in, sinking 13 and 12 points respectively.

Ishan Peets also netted 19 points for Blue Waters while Tristan Jacobs sank 10 in a losing effort.

Defending champions, Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (ABTB) remain undefeated in their quest for back-to-back titles.

The champions thrashed FLOW, 82-50, with national players Bryan “Hollywood” Matthew and Kareem “Macky” Edwards scoring 24 points each.

Teammate, Kenroy “Chicken” Telemaque contributed with 11 points.

FLOW’s Leroy Percival was the leading scorer with 10 points.

In the other match played that night, newbies Galley Bay suffered their third straight loss, falling this time to Dixie, 70-38.

George Francis had a game high 30 points for the victors, while teammate Gija George sank 14.

Galley Bay’s Naik Nedd and Joseph “Mango” Jacobs both netted eight points.

Games will continue on Saturday night at the JSC Sports Complex starting at 6:30 as Burton’s Laundry battle Area 51 Invaders while, at 7:30, former champions Kennedys will play Fitzroy’s Rewinding and Sandals will face APUA Head Office at 8:30.
