Anjo and Transport board record big wins to advance

Defending Playoff champions, Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (ABTB) and powerhouse team, Anjo Wholesale both secured their quarter-final play-off spots in the ongoing Cool and Smooth sponsored Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Business League.
Led by Bryan “Hollywood” Matthew with 28 points, and Kareem “Macky” Edwards with 25, the champions cruised to a 92-57 victory over newbies, Mill Reef.
Teammate, Marlon “Buju” Charles contributed with 16.
Mill Reef, competing in their first playoffs, got a rude awakening as they were eliminated despite a 21-point effort by Elliott Samuel.
Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority also bade farewell as they received a 78-41 thrashing from Anjo Wholesale.
Sharife Sergeant led the charge for the victors with 22 points.
He was assisted by teammates, Gerard “Dumbo” Henry and DeCosta Walbrook who sank 13 and 12 points respectively.
Deandris Connell also netted 11.
Airport’s Joel Christian netted 11 in a losing effort.
The 2018 League champions, Sandals and former champions, Kennedys also advanced to the quarter-finals.
Both teams won by default over FLOW and APUA Water who failed to produce a full team.
All four teams await to see who they will face as the second set of first round matches continues this week.
The play-offs format comprises one-game elimination until the finals which follows a best of three format.
The quarter-finals will shoot off on Tuesday. (Carlena Knight)
