The Jennings Ebenezer Community Sports Club kicked off its football league on Sunday with Alley Top Boys and Green City collecting wins in their opening matches.
The league is divided into Group A and Group B and will run from the 11th August to 8th September.
Last year’s winning team SAP will not be featured in this year’s competition.
In Group A, Alley Top Boys made a strong start, defeating Lion Hill 4-1 in the opening match.
Jean Pierre Williams of Alley Top emerged as the leading goal scorer, netting all 4 goals for his team.
Green City also had a successful start, winning their match against Caribbean Ballers 1-0. Joylan Joseph scored the winning goal for Green City, placing them second in the group standings.
The Caribbean Ballers and Lion Hill find themselves at the bottom of the table after their losses, while Jennings United is yet to play their first match.
Group B has yet to see any action, with all teams – Kids From Brazil, Bolans, Bendals, Bush and Blunt FC, and Caution – having played no matches so far.
The league is set to continue with more matches on August 15th, featuring Jennings United versus Caribbean Ballers and a highly anticipated clash between Lion Hill and Green City.
The Group B teams are scheduled to begin their campaign on August 17th, with matches between Bush and Blunt FC versus Caution, and Kids From Brazil versus Bolans.
