A 29-year-old resident of Cassada Gardens who had been on the police’s wanted list before he turned himself in last Friday, has been charged in connection with the March 3 kidnapping and aggravated robbery of two women.
The accused, Shanell Thomas, also known as “Malice” and “Mabz”, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh in the St John’s Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, and was remanded until

The police have indicated that further charges are pending against the accused kidnapper.
Thomas was charged after the 42-year-old and 24-year-old victims reported to police that they were walking on St Mary’s Street about 8:30 pm on March 3, when a man held them at knifepoint and forced them into the back seat of the older woman’s vehicle.
He then drove them to a construction site in Powells and demanded money of them. On finding out that his victims had no money, the man ransacked the 42 year old’s handbag, took her Samsung S5 cellphone and Scotiabank ATM card and demanded the access pin, to which she complied.
The perpetrator reportedly tied the hands of the older woman together with a shoelace, bound her mouth with her scarf, and left her in the bushes. She subsequently managed to free herself and went to a nearby house for assistance
