All-Star Festival deemed a success

With the culmination of the Cool and Smooth Inter-school Basketball All Star Festival last Thursday, a number of junior ballers walked away with awards.

All Saints Secondary School earned the most awards in the Senior Girls category, winning the Individual Speed Dribble- Shannique Blackstock, Individual Shoot-out-Zorah Richards and the Team Speed dribble competition.

Dannika Bascom of Irene B Williams Secondary School was named the Skills Challenge winner while Shavon Joseph of Christ the King High School was adjudged the All-star Game MVP.

Clare Hall Secondary also racked up a number of awards in both the Intermediate and Senior boys divisions.

Andre Edwards, the Individual Shoot-out winner, Javonte Daley– All-star game MVP and the team speed dribble title in the Intermediate boys’ section, while in the Senior boys aspect, Angel Chatham -Individual Speed dribble and Adrian Carnegie, the Individual Shoot-out champ.

Amare Browne of Antigua Grammar School was the Individual Speed dribble winner, and Christopher Ogande of Pares Secondary the Skills Challenge champion.

Shamar Joseph of Antigua State College (ASC) was the Senior boys Skills challenge winner. ASC also ran away with the Team Speed dribble title.

The event was sponsored by Mr Horsford of A-Mobile, Cool & Smooth, Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (ABTB), Kennedy’s Club Ltd, Ahkimo Ltd, NNL Distributors, Unlimited Ice, Foston George of F and G Trading, Carlton Brodie, N’kenge “Beef” Drew, Vincent Cornelius, Jules Bowen, Neville Martin, Laumeca Charles, Xavier “Xman” Meade, Richie Francis, Karrie Knight, Steadroy “Happy” Graham, Michael Lewis, Carla Knight, Carlena Knight, Niah Roberts, Kareem Knight, Eric Henry, Mario Samuel, Shawn “Gizmo” Williams, Marlon “Buju” Charles, Monique Lewis, Elroy “Meatball” Christopher, Khalid Shabazz, Dion Shaw, Kahtalia Valentine, Oleno Knight and Sharife Sergeant.

Co-ordinator of School’s Basketball, Carl “Bowlie” Knight not only deemed the event a success, but thanked the sponsors for their ongoing support. He further thanked the overseas-based players, Joshua Minner, Darius Daniels, Jacob Lloyd and Isaac Bragg for participating in the event as celebrity coaches.
