Defending champions All Saints United kept their hopes of a second straight Premier Division title alive on Sunday with a 5-0 trouncing of the struggling Five Islands FC at the FA’s Technical Center located on Sir Sydney Walling Highway.
There were five different goal scorers for the All Saints men with Tiquan Isaac putting his team on the scoresheet in the 19th minute. Nazir Mc Burnette (40) and Raheem Deterville (45+1) put United three-nil up before the half.
All Saints United’s dominance continued in the second half and D’Andre Bishop increased their advantage to 4-0 with a close range effort in the 64th. Former national striker, Randolph “Etty” Burton, rounded off the scoring for the victors in added time.
The win lifts United to 40 points, one ahead of second placed Grenades FC who have 39. Five Islands remain on 10 points after 15 showings.
Coach of the All Saints team and former national player, Schyan Jeffers, said his players understand the task at hand and are prepared to fight till the end.

“We’ve gained experience from the last two seasons so this year I am pretty much using my experience and gauging myself towards this title. It’s still nerve-racking and you still have to stay focused and make sure you pay attention to details and correct all of the mistakes happening within your games that you are playing and also to make sure you’re on the right path in order for you to be in a good position to win the championship,” he said.
There was victory as well for former champions Old Road as they beat Attacking Saints 4-2.
Joshua Ferdinand led the scoring for the victors with a double, netting in minutes eight and 38 while there were single strikes from Shackwon Simon in minute 17 and Johnathan Shoy in minute 82. The win lifts Old Road to 34 points from 15 showings and third on the standings.
Obafami Poyotte score both goals for Attacking Saints, netting in minutes 31 and 53 as they remain on 15 points from 15 showings.
In the other match contested Sunday, Green City picked up a crucial 3-2 victory over Pigotts Bullets to take their tally of points to 11 from 15 outings.
Bullets struck first with Sujae Mcbean putting them ahead on minute 15 but City was back on level terms just two minutes later via a Julian Joseph conversion. Aquan Singh then put City two-nil up with a 53rd minute strike before Akeem Isaac made it 2-2 in the 72nd minute. Malik Charles secured all three points for City with a 79th minute conversion.
